Designed a custom steering knuckle for a Ford Fiesta R3T rally car. Design had to take into consideration the new suspension parts that client company had bought, had to respect steering geometry of original knuckle, had to appeal aesthetically to client, and had to be machinable.
Validated final design using standard Finite Element Modeling (FEM) testing procedure for suspension parts. A number of uprights based on the validated design have by now been manufactured and are actively in use on rally courses. Due to proprietary reasons, further details on the project cannot be revealed. |

PEDE is a competitive admission program that involves senior engineering students working in conjunction with engineers from industry and University of Iowa faculty members on design projects.
My project involved working with three other members in redesigning a construction skid steer bucket to maximize material overfill and minimize spillage during vehicle movement. After numerous conceptual designs, the team presented their recommended design to John Deere in May 2015. Due to proprietary reasons, further details on the project cannot be revealed. |
